BDMNTN-XL reimagines traditional badminton through an exciting, fast-paced sporting format designed to deliver high-energy action and entertainment. Debuting in Jakarta, Indonesia, the event introduces a fresh perspective on the sport, combining competitive gameplay with a bold, contemporary identity.
Over an intensive three-month period, Rehla Design collaborated with Binomial Consulting, Kin Productions and SPOTV Asia to develop a distinctive brand identity that captures the event's energy, ambition and unconventional approach to badminton.
The brand naming reflects the event's innovative spirit. BDMNTN-XL is a disemvowelled interpretation of 'badminton', creating a modern, impactful name that mirrors its reimagined gameplay. The 'XL' represents both the event's extra-large format and the Roman numeral 40, referencing the four 10-minute sets played in each match.
The visual identity embraces bold typography, dynamic compositions and energetic graphic elements, establishing a strong presence across sporting and promotional platforms. Designed for maximum impact, the identity communicates speed, movement and excitement while maintaining clarity and recognition.
As part of the branding system, Rehla Design developed four distinctive team identities inspired by speed, power and movement: Hurricanes, Lightning, Rockets and Blitzers.
Each team features its own recognisable logo while sharing a consistent visual language with the parent brand. This unified approach creates individuality among the teams while strengthening the overall BDMNTN-XL identity.
The resulting identity delivers a cohesive and adaptable visual system, bringing together event branding, team identities and promotional communications under one energetic brand experience.
The collaboration between Binomial Consulting and Rehla Design received a Bronze Award at the Transform Awards Asia 2025 for Best Implementation of a Brand Development Project, recognising the successful execution of the BDMNTN-XL identity.
