Designing with purpose: Our Journey with PAVE
Since 2019, Rehla Design has had the privilege of working with PAVE on a range of communication materials that support their work in addressing family violence and building safer communities.
What began with publication design has grown into an ongoing collaboration across annual reports, event materials and environmental graphics. Through each project, our focus has remained the same — making important and often complex information clear, approachable and engaging.
MAKING INFORMATION ACCESSIBLE
PAVE’s annual reports bring together a wide range of content — from organisational milestones and programme highlights to statistics, research and personal stories.
Our approach is centred on creating a clear visual hierarchy that makes this information easier to navigate. Photography, typography, infographics and colour are carefully balanced to break down content while allowing important stories and figures to stand out.
The FY25/26 Annual Report continues this approach with a clean and contemporary visual language, using PAVE’s brand colours throughout to create consistency while giving each section its own voice.
DATA AT A GLANCE
Numbers tell an important part of PAVE’s story. Key statistics and outcomes are translated into simple infographics, charts and visual summaries, allowing readers to understand the organisation’s reach and impact at a glance.
Rather than treating data as a separate element, we designed it as part of the overall narrative — informative, accessible and visually connected to the rest of the publication.
PUTTING PEOPLE AND STORIES FIRST
At the heart of PAVE’s work are the people and communities they serve.
Across feature stories, programme highlights and survivor stories, the layouts were designed to give sensitive content the space and clarity it deserves. Pull quotes, imagery and considered typography help create moments of emphasis while guiding readers through longer narratives.
BEYOND THE PAGE
Our collaboration with PAVE has also extended beyond publications into event and environmental applications.
For PAVE’s 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner, we translated the visual language into large-format totems and information displays — bringing key milestones, services, research and stories into a physical environment. This allowed the content to move beyond the booklet, creating an experience that visitors could explore and engage with in-person, along with fold-out leaflets that could be kept as keepsakes.
